Current Event Question:
1. What romantic attachment type do you see Kathy and Brandon exemplifying? Why?
Academic Article Question:
2. Do you see a correlation between infant-caregiver attachment and adult romance attachment, and does one influence the other?
1) I would say they have a secure romantic attachment due to the fact that they would always return to look at the gift and feeling that they have not had the worst disagreement yet. Relationships will have their downfalls and they understand that. The box just helped them get through the bad times and that they will happen from time to time. They will get through it.
ReplyDelete2)Yes. I feel like the attachments help influence each other due to one specific person's personality. For example, if someone is very avoidant that may lead to them avoiding their partner and also avoiding their infant.
I think that the couple in the article would have a secure romantic sttachment. Like every couple they had issues, but they didn't give up on each other or their relationship. They were always working on how to better their relationship and even opened the present when they weren't in a fight, just to see what it was.
ReplyDeleteI do think see a correlation between infant-caregiver attachment and an adult romantic attachment. Their personality that they gain as a child will most likely carry into their adulthood, which they then bring into their relationships.
1. I think that the couple has a secure romantic attachment because they always work through the bad times, even though there wasn't a secret to relationships in the box it still helped them get through their relationship.
ReplyDelete2. I think that the infant caregiver attachment influences the adult romance attachment. How their personality develops as a child will affect the way they develop relationships as an adult.
1. I also think they have a secure romantic attachment because from what I've read, they seem to have a very open, honest, and strong relationship. Every time they had an argument, they were determined to work it out because they didn't want to have to open the box. The box taught them how to compromise, understand, and be patient. These qualities are important in secure romantic attachments.
ReplyDelete2. The correlation between infant-caregiver attachment and adult romance attachment is that the influences you had when you were young make up your personality, and will continue to grow as you become older and create relationships. For example if someone grew up in a household where you didn't share your thoughts and feelings with one another, then as you form relationships when you are older you most likely won't be in an open-ended relationship because you won't feel comfortable due to previous experiences as a child.
1. I believe they have a secure romantic attachment. Every relationship has their stormy days, including mine. this couple wanted to give up but knew they could get through their disagreements and not give up.
ReplyDelete1. Kathy and Brandon show secure romantic attachment. In the article Kathy highlights that she sees Brandon as her teammate, best friend, and partner. This is reflective of the secure attachment because they both rely on each other and view the relationship with a positive attitude. With this positive attitude comes the view that they could get through simple fights or disagreements without resorting to the unopened present as cure.
ReplyDelete2. I think that the infant-caregiver does correlate to the adult romance attachment. The love and attachment that is received as a child could influence behavior later in life. For example, if a person is neglected as a child it could give them a negative connotation of what is to be a parent or a lover.
1) Kathy and Brandon have a secure romantic attachment. They show a strong bond and willingness to work through issues.
ReplyDelete2) I do see a correlation between infant-caregiver attachment and adult romance attachment and i believe they have direct effect on the other. I believe the biggest effect is when infant attachment transforms into adult romance and those past experiences shape how ones romance is developed and maintained.

Delete1. Secure seems to me to be the obvious answer, and perhaps the correct one, but despite admitting to having disagreements, arguments, and even slammed doors, they display a level of insecurity in refusing to open the box sooner. Opening the box became a symbol of failure on their part, and while it may have spurred them to develop strategies and skills to circumvent severe disruption to their relationship, it also may have spurred them to refuse to see substantial disagreements/arguments for what they were, as to not admit some failure or dysfunction in their relationship.
ReplyDelete2. The study seemed to show evidence for a correlation, both positive and negative, between factors associated with infant-caregiver attachment and romantic attachment later in life, which if attachment theory is correct, this interpretation relating to love relationships gives some evidence that they would be influential on each other, possibly in a continuing cycle from childhood, to adulthood, and onto raising children of one's own.
1. This relationship type is a secure romantic attachment. Brandon and Kathy show a close relationship and how they worked hard to keep them together. They have a strong bond by what I have read and determination to work through their problems because they did not want to give in and open the box.
ReplyDelete2. I do think there is a resemblance between the infant caregiver and the romantic attachment. As a caregiver you should be giving the love and affection so they feel the warmth as they grow older they will give off the same feelings they once had as a child. This will hopefully transform their idea of romance later on in their life.
1. Brandon and Kathy seem to have a secure romantic attachment because they both seem to be able to work out their problems. In order to be able to do that they need to have love and respect for each other which it seems like they do. This is also a base for good communication skills because if they weren't able to address their feelings and emotions they wouldn't of been able to work out their differences.
ReplyDelete2. It seems like there might be correlation between the infants caregiver and a romantic partner just because the 3 emotional stages and infant goes through seems similar to the stages of a break-up.
1. Their relationship type is traditional because they said that they were "too stubborn and determined" to open the box. So, they did not want to give up, they wanted to go as long as they could to not open the box. I would also say that they are a traditional couple because they use the box to learn more about their relationship, so they would not fight as often.
ReplyDelete2. I do see a correlation between infant-caregiver attachment and adult romance attachment. I think it has to do with their personality because the personality you have when you are young to when you are an adult is the same with some minor changes, so this would effect the romance attachment later in life due to personality.
1. Brandon and Kathy have a secure relationship. By waiting 9 years to open the box, they showed that they can work out their problems and learn about each other in the process.
ReplyDelete2. There does seem to be a correlation between caregiver and adult romance attachment. The stages that an infant goes through are similar to how adults handle a bad relationship.
) I feel that Brandon and Kathy have a secure romantic attachment because they always seem to workout their problems. This to me shows that they have a good base of communication which is essential in any relationship.
ReplyDelete2)Yes there seems to be a correlation between infant-caregiver and adult-romance attachment. The influences that you have when you're young can effect your personality for when you are older. For example, if you grew up being neglected, that will give you a negative outlook on relationships. On the other hand if you grew up with love and support your view on relationships will be positive.
1. Brandon and Kathy seem to have a secure relationship attachment due to their determination and hard work to keep their relationship together and strong. They used the present that their Aunt Alison gave them as motivation to not have to need the mysterious gift that was supposed to help them through their "first" argument. Instead, they were determined to be able to fix whatever the problem is themselves, which made them learn how to work together and it made their relationship stronger.
ReplyDelete2. There does seem to be a relationship between the infant-caregiver attachment and adult romance attachment because the relationships that people experience as children will influence how they view relationships in their futures. For example, if someone grows up with no parents or parents who are not loving, then they will be less trusting and more hesitant in their future relationships because they are not used to the feeling of being loved in a relationship. On the other hand, someone who grew up with a close relationship with their parents might have higher expectations out of their future relationships and will want to feel the love in their relationship that they received from their parents.
